Woodworkers Journal: Half Lap Joints on the Chop Saw

Half-lap joints, sometimes called egg-crate or simply notched-joints are a practical and fun way to join crossing members — as demonstrated in this candle holding centerpiece in the article linked above. It looks as if the wood just flows right through the crossing pieces — and the joint is tight and attractive.
