Co-worker: It's hot in here!

Me: Hot is simply a state of mind. Imagine yourself somewhere nice and cool with a gentle breeze and almost as if by magic do you know what will happen?

Co-worker: What?

Me: It'll still be hot here but you'll be ticked off because you'll be imagining yourself somewhere nice and cool.

Co-worker: Ahhhh! You @#%!#

Is it wrong of me to take such delight in this? Lol!

The Businessman and the Fisherman

There was once an American businessman who was sitting by the beach in a small Mexican village. As he sat, he saw a Mexican fisherman rowing a small boat towards the shore and noticed that the fisherman has caught quite a number of big fishes that is known to be a delicacy. The American was really impressed and asked the fisherman, "How long does it take you to catch so many fishes?"
The fisherman replied, "Oh, just a short while."
"Then why don't you stay longer at sea and you could catch even more?" The businessman was astonished.
The fisherman simply does not agree. "This is enough to feed my whole family," he says.
The businessman then asked, "So, what do you do for the rest of the day then?"
The fisherman replied, "Well, I usually wake up early in the morning, go out to sea and catch a few fishes, then I would go back and play with my kids. In the afternoon, I will take a nap with my wife, and evening comes, I will join my buddies in the village for a drink, we play guitar, sing and dance throughout the night. My days are ever so complete and carefree."
The businessman does not agree with his way of life and offered a suggestion to the fisherman.
"I am a PhD holder graduated from Harvard University, specialising in business management. I could help you to become a more successful person. From now on, you have to spend more time at sea and try to catch as many fishes as possible. And when you have saved enough money, you could buy a bigger boat and catch even more fishes. As you go on, you will be able to afford to buy more boats, recruit more fishermen and lead a team of your own. Soon you will be able to set up your own company, your very own production plant for canned food and do direct selling to your distributors. At that time, you will have moved out of this village and to Mexico City, and then expand your operation to LA, and finally to New York City, where you can set up your HQ to manage all your other branches."
The fisherman asks, "So, how long would that take?"
The businessman reply, "About 15 to 20 years."
The fisherman continues, "And after that?"
The businessman laughs heartily, "After that, you can live like a king in your own house, and when the time is right, you can go public and float your shares in the Stock Exchange, by then you will be rich, your income will be coming in by the millions!"
The fisherman asks, "And after that?"
The businessman says, "After that, you can finally retire, you can move to a house by the fishing village, wake up early in the morning and catch a few fishes, then return home to play with kids, have a nice afternoon nap with your wife, and when evening comes, you can join your buddies for a drink, play the guitar, sing and dance throughout the night!"
The fisherman was puzzled, "Isn't that what I am doing now?"

Invictus

William Ernest Henley

                   Invictus

O of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Work Update

Ok, this is for all my friends at work who have been asking. Now it might be time to go ahead and get excited. They have given me a start.date, albeit a tentative one. Apparently tentative pending the outcome of my fingerprints and background check. But that date is July 12th. So, for my friends at HDQ I'll miss ya, for my friends at DFW i'll, tentatively, see ya soon and for my wife I guess it's safe to buy groceries for the coming week. ;-)

Growing Good Corn

There was a Nebraska farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves.

So it is in other dimensions. Those who choose to be at peace must help their neighbors to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

Moral : If we want to be happy, we should help our neighbors to be happy.

Easy Picture Frames

Attractive and unique picture frames can be made with basic tools, for some only a saw and a square are needed. It is much easier to cut mitered corners with a miter box or trimmer, if the fit is not exact the angles can be fine tuned by sanding them. Often a cause of poor fitting joints is that the two opposite side pieces are not exactly the same length. A disk sander is a very handy tool to have to adjust the angles to fit, there are plans to build one here.

Hidden Hollow - One of a Kind Fairy Cottages

Tucked away from human eyes, just between the woods and a sunny meadow, is the town of Hidden Hollow. The inhabitants of this quaint village have lived here for centuries, subsisting off of nature and items stolen from the neighboring mortal townspeople.

If you were to stumble upon this magical place in your wandering you would see tiny cobblestone streets, almost unnoticeable upon first glance. Look closer and you would see, tucked among the stones, blades of grass, and flowers, are tiny little dwellings. Lovingly built using findings from the nearby woods. Each one different from the last, as unique as their owners. But each of these tiny households has one thing in common... They are home to fairy folk.

We don't need another disaster

The tragic Gulf oil disaster of the past six weeks finally focused Congress' attention on the serious safety problems with offshore drilling.

But why does it take a national disaster? A bill to make our food safer has been sitting in Congress, near final passage, for a year. It would increase inspections and help food processors catch contaminants before they end up on your local grocery store shelves.

Now that we get so much of our food from overseas, these basic safety requirements should apply to all foreign as well as domestic food companies it's just common sense.

Join me in sending an email to the Senate to stop the delay and pass the food safety bill now. Just go to Consumers Union's website, www.NotInMyFood.org, to send your own email. We shouldn't have to wait until any more Americans get sick and die to fix our broken food safety system.

Let's solve this problem before another disaster strikes!

The hoop is more than just a circle. It is a three-dimensional object. It has a continuous wall that flows from the center, out, and around. The geometrical shape this creates is called the “torus”. When dealing with the hoop as an object to dance with, it is important to be aware of every inch of that torus; the inner wall, the outer wall, the edge, the entire surface.

The word “torus” is also sound similar with my zodiac sign “Taurus”, the sign represented by the bull. I am constantly at odds with my stubborn and fixed bull energy while attempting to connect to spirit. The hoop helps me smooth out my rough edges and find a quicker path to that connection, as well as aiding in finding life direction. The Taurus energy gets channeled through the torus that is the hoop.

Across the country and around the world, artists move into troubled or blighted neighborhoods and revitalize them with their artistry. Property values increase, new businesses move in, and the overall quality of life improves immeasurably. Sooner or later, the public discovers what wonderful places these neighborhoods have become. In some cases, people travel thousands of miles to visit them, vacation there, and buy art. - Alan Bamberger
